As a child I was taught that nutrition may be the solution to most physical problems; that every illness or ailment could be resolved with a natural ingredient. Growing up, I watched my mother create a nutritional lifestyle that allowed my father to live approximately 30 years past his life expectancy, as he battled heart disease.
As a young child this became an influential part of my life, feeding my passion for nutrition. I no longer saw eating as solely a source of fuel, a form of pleasure or something to do when I was bored, but a gateway to health and wellbeing.
This mentality carried with me as I pursued Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in physiology at UCLA and into Medical School at USC. As a resident in Internal Medicine at Cedars Sinai, I would walk into a 30-hour shift with my lunch box, prepared with my homemade foods, and my yoga mat. I understood that taking care of my body meant that I would be better able at taking care of others. As they say, “you can’t pour from an empty glass.”
During my Internal Medicine residency, I was offered a position in the Department of Clinical Nutrition at UCLA. The position entailed performing clinical trials illustrating the physiological changes in the body with different foods. I also continued my training in preventive medicine as I learned how to treat specific medical conditions through proper lifestyle modification. With each patient I had the pleasure to influence, I would remember my mother’s teachings.
I bring these life experiences and understandings into my private practice.
I practice Clinical Nutrition, a practice that helps patients achieve general wellness, anti-aging benefits and overall wellbeing with simple changes in their daily routines.
It is gratifying to see a lifelong illness resolve by simple changes in diet. Helping patients realize their physical capabilities and guiding them to be the best version of themselves is what makes my field truly gratifying.

Nancy Rahnama MD founded Dr Nancy in 2013 after completing Internal Medicine Residency at Cedars Sinai Medical Center and a Clinical Nutrition Fellowship at UCLA. Her vision of creating a practice that revolved around patient individuality and specific needs became “Dr Nancy.” She created a practice that focused on taking care of the patient as a whole, evaluating and considering every aspect of the mind, body and soul.
Every patient is on a distinct plan, addressing symptoms of weight gain, fatigue, metabolism, mood and other issues. In order to successfully treat these problems and to keep them from recurring, it is important to understand the individual as a whole and to understand their multiple influencing factors. Many patients present to our office after contemporary treatment options have failed.
We understand that there are many different contributing factors that may result in a specific problem or concern. Lifestyle, genetics, mood, diet, nutrition, digestion are all aspects to be considered when solving a problem at its core.
By identifying the root of an issue, we are able to eliminate unnecessary prescription medication and are able to eradicate the problem in its entirety, address other unknown issues and prevent future illness complications.
Many of our patients come in with multiple prescription medications and we are able to titrate off many medications with nutritional and lifestyle modification. Although many patients initially come in for weight loss, they are often surprised when the source of their weight struggle is due to another underlying issue. By addressing one symptom by its core, we are able to help the body in many different areas. We strive to make the body perform at its best so that you feel and look your best.
Our consultations start with a comprehensive interview and physical exam with Board Certified Internist and Clinical Nutrition Specialist, Nancy Rahnama, MD. During this visit the doctor performs a nutritional evaluation, interprets body composition analysis and together will develop a realistic plan to address the patients’ main concerns.
